Summer fun

We’ve had a lot of fun so far this summer so I thought I’d update the blog with some pictures of our adventures!

Overnight camping trip to Zion’s National Park

A week long stay at Sandbridge Beach in Virginia with all the fam! It was awesome!

Emma still falls asleep in funny positions, like her hand in a puppet.

A backpacking trip to Wall Lake, which the kid did amazingly on!

Some amusing tales (and pics)

Emma has been falling asleep in the most unusual places lately! I thought I’d share our findings as Josh and I are turning in for the night.

She is just resting in that last photo Smile

She really likes to fall asleep with her face on the tile, which is always cold! Also, there are usually a pile of books under or near her once she’s finally asleep.

Emma is going through a mommy phase right now, and always wants mom to do, hold, help her.  It can make a mom feel quite loved Smile

This guy is into taking pictures now. He still loves science “es-perri-ments”, we made an Ivory soap cloud last week and he wants to have a science themed birthday party….a kid after my own heart! He loves going to preschool and is reading now!

We are excited for the warmer weather and have already been on bike rides and to parks. We visited BYU last week and it was fun to show the kids where we went to school. While Josh was speaking to an engineering class, I took the kids to some of the places I spent a lot of time at….the science buildings! Matt said at one point, “I want to be a scientist and do experiments in a lab.” I love it!IMG_3128IMG_3130IMG_3131

They needed a break from walking around campus Smile

I love my cute kids!

Oh yeah, I have a blog.

Well, its been a loooong time since I’ve posted anything. Here are some of the highlights of the last 9 months!

Our family had a super fun summer last year with lots of outings to the park, bike rides, and tennis games. We got to spend 4 days at Lake Powell in July. Our kids loved swimming in the lake, boating, tubing, making Indian-esque houses, and playing on the inflatable islands.

We went back east to Virginia and NC in August. That was such a fun trip! We got to see our aunts, uncles, and cousins that I grew up with but haven’t seen in a few years. They loved my kiddies and showered them with attention and love (and a few gifts!) They met their cousin Kelsey for the first time. She is my 2nd cousin’s daughter (the only child on my side of the family other than Caleb.) Since the trip, they’ve been pen pals with Kelsey and love it.

We had a fun retreat to East Canyon with all of the Whitmers in September. Its so fun to all get away together. Our kiddos love their cousin playtime.

Also in September, I got to travel to Bei Jing, China with Josh for 8 days. He was there for work, and I got to explore the city! I LOVE Bei Jing! It was such a clean, beautiful, safe feeling city. The food was amazing. I took some tours of Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, and together we did the Great Wall.

I feel so blessed to have parents (on both sides) who watch and care for our kiddies so I can travel with Josh. Such a neat experience!

We had a great Christmas: lots of time with families and friends, eating good food, singing and playing games. IMG_2873IMG_2878IMG_2883IMG_2889IMG_2909IMG_2908

So far in 2013: Lots of snow. Lots of shoveling and playing in snow! And some fun goofy times at home.

Josh and I just got back from 4 days in San Francisco where he presented at an Oracle Users Conference. The food (and company) was superb Smile.

Whew. I’m caught up now. Guilty feeling gone!
